Pet Overpopulation

There is a significant population of stray dogs and cats throughout Patagonia. The local people generally do not sterilize their animals for financial or cultural reasons. These animals threaten the environment by spreading trash and defecating throughout the streets, ultimately diminishing the towns' cleanliness and polluting the water supply.
TPF has partnered with the Chilean organization REYPA Coyhaique (Rescate y Proteccion Animal) to develop a program that will perform canine sterilizations and provide educational seminars and materials to the public regarding the problems of canine over-population. See Current Projects for further information.
